A blog devoted to sharing the journeys of my heart

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness, For His name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows. Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Psalm 23

Super Moon... the moon that is super

I love the sky. A clear blue sky rejuvenates my heart. The sound and smell of rain relaxes me. White puffy clouds make me smile, and looking at the stars calms my heart... sometimes I wonder why I wasn't an astronaut or a meteorologist... (confession... for three straight years a local meteorologist came and spoke to my 4th grade class... it was always kinda more for me than for my class.)
One of my favorite, it could be THE favorite, things about the sky is a full moon. Looking at the moon reminds me how small I am, yet how important I am to God. I love the way it lights up the whole sky. And then when there are stars too... it just seems enchanting and romantic. Another thing I love is when you can see the moon in the morning with the sun. I just think that is the coolest thing...

A while back the moon was not only full, but it was also the closest it has been to earth in 20 years. Did you see it? Meteorologists say that the moon appeared 30% brighter and 14% bigger that night. And boy, it was BEAUTIFUL! (It seemed like someone lassoed the moon and brought it closer... Bruce Almighty anyone?) I was lucky to be driving back to Kentucky from Indiana that night and was able to look at the moon the entire time driving. I tried to take a picture at one point, but it didn't turn out well. So here is a picture someone else took.

Wow, is all I can say...

I'm not gonna lie, it kinda melts my heart!

Free tip: You know the phrase "Food is the way to my heart?" Well, the sky is the way to my heart. :)

What's your favorite thing about the sky? Moon? Stars? Clouds? Sunset?

  1. I think that a blue sky with a few clouds is the best. Beautiful

  2. My definite favorite is when the sky is completely clear and the most crystal blue you could ever imagine. The sky in Kentucky on these days is pretty amazing, but the sky out in Nevada where my Nana and Grandpa live is unbelievable on a clear blue day. I don't know if it's because it's set against orange and purple mountains or if it's because the air is so dry and there's less haze? I really have no clue, but that is my favorite kind of sky...clear and bright blue! :)

  4. So I had a really awesome comment written up for this post... then my janky internet connection quit and it went away. But then I just went outside with Ollie dog and was inspired to add an additional comment:

    My 3 favorite skies:
    1. Bright blue sky with streaky whitish/gray clouds that cover the sun only enough to have huge sun rays beaming down in all directions.
    2. The sky when a storm is rolling in at night on the beach. Crazy weird since I hate storms and all but there's something breathtaking about the movement of the clouds and the ocean waves and the colors/illusions they create. Perfect.
    3. The stars. Tonight. Go look outside if you're still awake. They're captivating. Makes me feel small yet close to the heavens all at the same time. God's pretty cool and creative like that.
P.S. That sure is a super moon!
